Today’s students are navigating more than academics.
They are dealing with stress, identity questions, friendships, family struggles, motivation issues, digital pressures, and uncertainty about the future.Teachers, form teachers, CCA teachers, school counsellors, year heads, and student development leaders are often the first adults students turn to. Yet many educators were never formally equipped with practical mentoring skills to guide meaningful conversations and support student growth with confidence.

The Singapore Institute of Mentors (SIMe) offers a practical Youth Mentoring Training Programme for Schools to help school leaders and teachers build stronger student relationships, strengthen pastoral care, and develop a mentoring culture within the school community.
Why Youth Mentoring Matters in Schools
A student may not always need advice first.
Often, they need an adult who knows how to listen, ask wisely, guide gently, and build trust over time.
When educators develop mentoring skills, schools are better able to:
strengthen teacher-student trust
support student wellbeing and resilience
improve communication with youths facing challenges
guide students in values, confidence, and personal growth
complement counselling, discipline, and student development efforts
nurture a more caring and connected school culture
Youth mentoring does not replace teaching, counselling, or leadership.
It strengthens them.
Who This Is For
This programme is suitable for:
school leaders
form teachers
CCA teachers in charge
year heads and level heads
student development teams
pastoral care teams
school counsellors and support staff
educators who want to better connect with and guide students

What Participants Will Learn
Through this training, educators will gain practical youth mentoring skills such as:
how to build trust with young people
how to listen actively and respond with empathy
how to ask mentoring questions that promote reflection and ownership
how to support students facing emotional, behavioural, social, or motivational struggles
how to guide without controlling
how to maintain healthy mentoring boundaries
how to encourage values formation, confidence, and responsibility
how to identify when a student needs referral or additional support
how to create a more mentoring-oriented school environment
A Unique Feature: AI Mentee Simulation
One of the most engaging parts of our programme is the AI Mentee Simulation.
Participants can practise realistic mentoring conversations with an AI-powered youth persona and receive instant feedback on their mentoring approach.
This helps educators experience:
realistic student conversations
common youth concerns and responses
areas of strength in their mentoring style
practical suggestions for improvement
